Introduction to the Porsche 993 GT2

With the development of the rare 993 GT2, Porsche created an iconic supercar.

The GT2 may best be described as an ultimate lightweight racing version of the 993 Turbo. The powerplant of the 993 Turbo was fitted with larger turbochargers and provided 430bhp for MY 1997 and 450 bhp for MY 1998.

The bodywork was modified in order to meet with the racing requirements: a large fixed rear wing providing additional down-force and widened bolt-on plastic fenders accommodating large racing tires and allowing for easy repair of race sustained damage which were installed front and rear helped improving the cars performance and making it look like the radical race car it was and still to this day is.

The interior was also lightened similar to the RS version reducing the cars weight to 1295 kg (993 Turbo 1470 kg) only.

The 993 GT2 was an impressive performer achieving the standard sprint (0-100 km/h) in 4.4s and reaching a top speed of 295km/h. Nowadays the 993 GT2 is an extremely popular collectors car with prices constantly raising currently passing 250,000 Euros for decent examples.
